Christopher Columbus,on October 12,1492, arrived in a new land. This day is called "Columbus Day". He discovered a new continent "The Americas". Christopher Columbus never realised he had reached a whole new world. In fact, Amerigo Vespucci was the first to understand it, so America took it's name from him. Every year people celebrate this event. This day is a national event and people organize parades, and wear costumes. Many military corps partecipate in the parade and fireworks are lit at the end.
